As the garden season comes to a close, you can preserve a little bit of it for yourself in this original painting by Laura Murphy of Wildethyme Art. This painting captures a small corner of one of the many beds in our yard. Painted in acrylic to look like oils (The last show it was in, the curator mislabeled it as an oil painting!), it has great depth and drama.
Small paintings are agreat way to collect art. They invite you to enjoy them at close range, drawing you in to enjoy the minute detail.
This is an original 12 x 12 x 5" acrylic painting sealed with water based poly acrylic. The gallery wrapped sides are painted, it needs no frame. It was painted in acrylic, using glaze techniques by the old masters for hundreds of years. One color is painstakingly layered over another to create the final color, creating a lustrous surface that is deep and glassy in appearance. (This also makes it a challenge to photograph!)

We have other paintings in similar colors and subject matter, here:
We do our very best to represent our colors and textures, photographing them in a lightbox, in sunlight, with/without flash... Having said that, we hope that you'll understand that there are so many variables that will affect what you see (including monitors, climate and individual perception) and that some differences occur. The painting in this listing has been edited to remove a few light wrinkles in the light box, as well as for exposure and slight contrast (it was an overcast day).
***Please note: In the interest of integrity and disclosure, I accidentally punctured this canvas while I was nearly finished. Using my extensive background in painting and fibers, I repaired and sealed the teeny hole permanently. You cannot see it from the front, but I have included a snapshot of the repair in the fifth photo to ease your mind about purchasing. It has been in our gallery and one exhibit and no one noticed until I showed it to them. You can purchase without worry. :)

The ability to customize, personalize orders is the number one reason we work mostly on a "made to order" basis. We want you to have everything just as you need/want it! We understand that this makes our shipping times slower, but we hope you will agree that we are worth the wait :)
Not always. Let us know if this is important, and we will make it happen.
It's a long, convoluted answer having to do with the fact that we offer variations of weight in our batts and other items. We pay the extra shipping on larger batts, but we have no way of setting the shipping lower on the sample sizes, so we have to meet somewhere in the middle --which is often WAY too much if you are ordering a quantity of sample batts.
And yes. We can fix it, just message us. Or.. check out and leave us a note reminding us to refund your excess shipping. Either way, we understand. We hate overpaying for shipping too :D
If we forgot them, of course we will :D
But first... take a peek on the side of the foam. 99.99% of the time, they are there, just overlooked.
We dye a very large proportion (60-75%!!) of our wool, Firestar and Silk. We're really proud of the number of colors we offer-- and we only have plans to do more. We do this because it the work we love to do, it's one of many things that we think make our work worthwhile, special. Additionally, we do not want our batts sitting in inventory, compacting from lack of use. And then... what if you want to customize the batt? We do that too :D
We make our batts to order because we make them for you— and we make a LOT of them, so there is usually a line when you order as well. We think they are worth the wait and hope that you will too. Naturally, if you need something faster, let us know. We work magic, that's what we do :D
