Laura spent many hours as a child reading and dreaming about Mermaids. She's still looking for an out of print book she read as a child, called "The Book of Mermaids" as well as some Russian fairy tale books about Mermaids. But... we digress :) We did, however, think that it was past time we designed a mermaid batt--and send it to the lovely and talented Grace Shalom Hopkins to share. Seriously. If you would like to see this batt opened and unrolled, Visit Grace's Blog, here: (opens in a new window) http://graceshalomhopkins.weebly.com/blog/batt-fiber-support-unboxing-wildethyme
Great for spinning, felting, this batt contains contains a combination of commercial and hand painted fibers mixed with angelina, starbright and faux cashmere! It is crazy soft :D
We are Phat Fiber participants! *Each* purchase made from our store permits an entry into the Ravelry, Phat Fiber Incentive thread to win the Super Box! Not familiar with Phattie ways? You can demystify here: http://phatfiber.blogspot.com.
All batted fiber comes in a bio-degradable, plastic sleeve to keep it happy and pretty :)
The Tech Specs:
— 1/4 -12 ounces (**The twelve ounce batt price *per ounce* reflects additional postage costs. :)

* We store and package our fibers with herbal sachets. So we may better care for you, please let us know in advance if your allergies are an issue. :)
FYI: We're cat and dog friendly people, but we have a brick and mortar store/studio where our fibers are stored and prepped. We do take our Border Collie, Scout, with us, but she has her own work to do ;)
We do our very best to represent our colors and textures, photographing them in a lightbox, in sunlight, with/without flash... Having said that, we hope that you'll understand that there are so many variables that will affect what you see (including monitors, climate and individual perception) and that you understand that some differences can occur.

Frequently Asked Questions
We have a handful of wholesale accounts, but at this time, we are not looking for more. We thank you for your interest :)
Custom and personalized orders
The ability to customize, personalize orders is the number one reason we work mostly on a "made to order" basis. We want you to have everything just as you need/want it! We understand that this makes our shipping times slower, but we hope you will agree that we are worth the wait :)
Does your roving come in one, continuous piece?
Not always. Let us know if this is important, and we will make it happen.
Why is the shipping so high? Can you fix it?
It's a long, convoluted answer having to do with the fact that we offer variations of weight in our batts and other items. We pay the extra shipping on larger batts, but we have no way of setting the shipping lower on the sample sizes, so we have to meet somewhere in the middle --which is often WAY too much if you are ordering a quantity of sample batts.
And yes. We can fix it, just message us. Or.. check out and leave us a note reminding us to refund your excess shipping. Either way, we understand. We hate overpaying for shipping too :D
You forgot my felting needles. Will you send them?
If we forgot them, of course we will :D
But first... take a peek on the side of the foam. 99.99% of the time, they are there, just overlooked.
Why does it take 10-14 days to mail a batt?
We dye a very large proportion (60-75%!!) of our wool, Firestar and Silk. We're really proud of the number of colors we offer-- and we only have plans to do more. We do this because it the work we love to do, it's one of many things that we think make our work worthwhile, special. Additionally, we do not want our batts sitting in inventory, compacting from lack of use. And then... what if you want to customize the batt? We do that too :D
We make our batts to order because we make them for you— and we make a LOT of them, so there is usually a line when you order as well. We think they are worth the wait and hope that you will too. Naturally, if you need something faster, let us know. We work magic, that's what we do :D

I received the beautiful roving that I order very quickly and well packed. I was pleasantly surprised at how beautiful the roving is that I ordered. I can hardly wait to spin it up, and will make a scarf from it. It was packaged in all recyclable packaging. Laura also included a lovely note of thanks, and a very pretty lavender sachet in each package I received. She also sent me some sample product they carry, that I inquired about, and included a sachet in with it too. I will definitely order again from Wildethyme Art.
